Hardin Filter — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 July 2026

Hardin Filter is a browser extension built by Hardin Enterprises Ltd ("Hardin AI", "we", "us") that checks AI-generated answers for fabricated references, leaked data, and unverified claims. This page explains exactly what data the extension processes, why, and what we never do with it.

What data the extension handles

DataWhenWhy
Selected/highlighted textOnly when you right-click and choose "Check Selected Text," or on the 4 supported AI chat sites when a new answer appearsSent to our checking API to run the governance checks (fabricated references, leaked data, source attribution, etc.)
Install timestampOnce, on installStored locally in your browser only (chrome.storage.local), for future free-tier usage limits
Monthly check counterEach time a check runsStored locally in your browser only, never transmitted to us

What we do NOT collect

Where the checked text is sent

Selected text is sent over HTTPS to our own governance API at tbn.hardinai.co.uk — no third-party service is involved. The text is used only to run the checks and generate a signed receipt of the result. It is not permanently stored in plain form; content is hashed as part of the verifiable receipt.

Which sites the extension can access

The extension's automatic checking runs only on: chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com, copilot.microsoft.com. On any other site, the extension does nothing unless you explicitly right-click a text selection and choose "Hardin Filter: Check Selected Text" — it never reads or transmits page content without that explicit action.

Data retention

Locally stored data (install timestamp, usage counter) stays in your browser and is deleted if you uninstall the extension. Server-side, checked text is processed to generate a result and a signed receipt; it is not retained in plain, re-readable form.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change and the update will be reflected here. Continued use of the extension after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
